SEEKING DANCERS (Wednesday, March 30th)
OPEN CALL: for non union and union male and female dancer/singers for the ensemble of Brave New World, a world premier musical based on the novel by Aldous Huxley, at NC Stage.
DANCE CALL: Wednesday, March 30th from noon to 6pm and will be held at Ballet Conservatory of Asheville, 6 East Chestnut St, Asheville.
REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE DATES: 4/12/16 through 5/10/16, previews 5/11/16 through 5/13/16. Official open is 5/14/16. Closes 6/5/16 with a possible extension to 6/12/16.
CONTRACT: SPT Cat. 4; $342/week AEA, Non Union Stipend
BREAKDOWN: In the World State, babies are engineered and grown in test tubes. As such, they are all perfect specimens; tall, beautiful, sexy, strong. They are given anti-aging hormones, so they all appear to be in their 20’s and 30’s, even when they are decades older.
Ensemble roles include various characters in the World State, as well as savages and lower caste members. Looking for dancers and confident movers to make up the ensemble of the World State. Experience with contemporary dance and hip hop a plus. Singing a plus.
PREPARATION: Auditions will be broken up into 6 one hour slots. You will be taught a routine from the show in groups and be asked to perform it. You may be asked to sing 32 measures of an uptempo and ballad contemporary music theatre piece.

SINGER’S CALL: Thursday, March 31st from noon to 6pm and will be held at Ballet Conservatory of Asheville, 6 East Chestnut St, Asheville.

JOHN Male, 20’s, handsome, strong, idealistic, naive. He has exceptionally strong character, but a very childlike understanding of right and wrong. Very strong pop singer – high baritone/tenor rock & roll voice.
DIRECTOR Male, 30’s/40’s, strong, handsome, powerful, charismatic. As the leader of the World State, he’s the most powerful man around, and he loves every minute of it. Strong, powerful singer – baritone.
BERNARD Male, 20’s, short, neurotic, funny. He is incredibly smart, but is uncomfortable in his own skin. He wants more than anything for people to respect him. Strong singer, baritone.
LENINA Female, 20’s/30’s, sexy, gorgeous, smart. She often questions the soundness of their society, which is constantly at odds with her sexual conditioning. Very strong pop & rock and roll singer – high belter .
LINDA Female, 40’s/50’s, looks older by contrast. Born in the World State then lost on a savage reservation, she is unable to reconcile the two worlds, and has lost her mind. Strong singer, alto/B’way belt.
