Join us for a holiday presentation of Jeeves Takes a Bow! The British upper crust meets the New York mob in this witty play. Everyone’s favorite hapless hero, Bertie Wooster, embarks on an American adventure armed only with his handsome fortune, his talent for trouble, and his remarkable valet, Jeeves. In less than a New York minute, they’re knee-deep in trouble with vengeful gangsters, chorus girls, and a new Broadway musical.
Margaret Raether first encountered P. G. Wodehouse in the form of a battered secondhand paperback of The Code of the Woosters when she was in college. This, as Bogart once famously observed, was “the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” A founding member of Artists’ Ensemble Theatre, most of Ms. Raether’s plays have debuted either at Artists’ Ensemble or at New American Theater, where she spent two seasons as Playwright in Residence. Her plays are pounded out late at night while peering around a cat that likes to sit in front of her monitor.
Ms. Raether’s trilogy of P. G. Wodehouse adaptations have been described as “bright and engaging as a garden party in May” (Chicago Tribune), “as dry as a well-made martini and equally potent” (Herald Tribune), and her writing “wonderfully captures the late British humorist’s renowned wit” (Seattle Times).

Pre-selected Masked Performances
In response to county infection data, feedback from audiences, and protocols implemented by peer organizations, NC Stage is instating the following protocol during our 2023/24 season for all public events in our building during this timeframe:
Until further notice, face masks are currently optional in all of our spaces except during select performances for each show (this show’s dates listed below). These performances are being offered to accommodate immunocompromised audience members or those who are more comfortable in fully masked settings, and are available to any patron who would like to attend. By purchasing a ticket to one of these performances, you are agreeing to wear a mask throughout the entire performance.
