North Carolina Stage Company is seeking choral singers for their upcoming production of All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914.
The production is a concert style performance with actors reading accounts from eyewitnesses of the spontaneous truce between Allied and German troops on the western Front during World War I.
The actors are backed up by an 8 person chorus singing songs of the period in traditional and modern a cappella arrangements. Voicing is Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, Bass. Singers will use sheet music during performances.
Singers must have strong proficiency in choral singing, reading music, blending, as well as a very good ear.
Dates of rehearsal and performances (ALL rehearsals and performances are mandatory):
Chorus rehearsals are every Sunday starting 9/29/24 and going through 11/10/24, late afternoon or early evening TBD. Rehearsals are 2 hours.
Combined rehearsals with actors are 11/12/24 through 11/20/24 and are 5 hours long in the evenings with the exception of expanded rehearsals on the weekend of 11/16 and 11/17 with hours not to exceed 8 hours each day.
Performances start 11/21/24 and go through 12/15/24.
Singers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, and body types, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to submit audition materials. are encouraged to audition. Must have range of listed voice parts.
This is a paid position offering a $1,000 stipend.
Auditions are Thursday 9/12/24 from 3pm to 5:45 pm and Sunday 9/15/24 from 3pm to 6pm at NC Stage 15 Stage Ln, Asheville.
Singers should prepare 32 measures each of a musical theatre piece and classical piece showing off musicality and musicianship to be sung without accompaniment.
