NC Stage is excited to partner with Montford Park Players for the 2nd year in a row to present our annual fundraiser Bard-a-thon. This fundraiser will benefit both organizations with all proceeds being equally split.
The Bard-a-thon works because lots of people participate. Readers sign up to read Shakespeare plays over a 24-hour period, asking their friends, family, and co-workers to sponsor them. We offer first dibs on roles to participants who raise the most money. Of course, no Shakespeare weekend would be complete without prizes, food, and fun! In fact, this year we are wrapping up the event with a big party on Saturday night at 8:00 PM to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday. The entire event is webcast live on NC Stage’s website.
Ready to read? Great! You’ve come to the right place. Here are some more details on being a participant in Bard-a-thon 2015!
Dates: The Bard-a-thon is happening over 24 hours starting with a pre-Bard reading at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 24th and continuing with readings until Saturday, April 25th at 8:00 PM. We wrap the weekend up with the Bard’s Bash, a party with complimentary drinks and food, on April 25th from 8:00 PM- Midnight.
Location: The entire Bard-a-thon weekend happens at NC Stage, 15 Stage Lane in Downtown Asheville.
How it works: Once you register, you begin collecting sponsors. If you raise at least $100.00 before April 13th, you get to choose your role. The person who raises the most money gets first choice and we go down the list from there.
Registration Fee: $15.00
What’s in it for you: Help raise money for two of Asheville’s awesome arts organizations: Montford Park Players and NC Stage. Hang out with a really fun group of participants reading Shakespeare. Get a really cool t-shirt. Party and celebrate the Bard’s Birthday with complimentary food and drinks.
